Welcome to Leskovac!

dobrodosli_eng.jpgIn the heart of the spacious and fertile Leskovian valley, fifty kilometres long and forty five kilometres wide, lies the city of Leskovac. It abounds in a great variety of geographic features and tourist facilities which will attract even the most particular of visitors. Apart from this multitude of features and facilities, Leskovac is also an important transit centre, providing links to Southern Europe (Greece), North-Western Europe via Belgrade, the Adriatic Sea via Priština, and the Black Sea and the Eurasian corridor via Sophia. The territory of the municipality of Leskovac is situated at an altitude between 210 and 240 meters above sea level.

Support to the construction of the plant ПДФ Штампај Е-пошта

This is about an implementation of program for improving financial and operational results significant for the activities in planning and development of municipal infrastructure which is financed from IPA funds of the European Union.

Thirty representatives of the European Union, involved in this project, representatives of the public utility company "Vodovod", Heads of the city administration and the Faculty of Technology attended the workshop.

MISP Program, supported by the Serbian government, offers help to local communities in Serbia in the preparation of projects in the field of infrastructure in terms of water supply, waste water and solid waste management.

The aim is the preparation of projects, service management of municipal infrastructure, programming and access to investment funds of the European Union.

The participants of the meeting were greeted by Zarko Bogatinovic, Head of the City Administration for Environmental Protection, who added that the central Plant for Wastewater Treatment would improve the environment and contribute to the safety and health of our citizens. Thanks to the involvement of the Mayor and the team working on the project, Bogatinovic said that construction permit was obtained for the construction of the first phase of the water line, and appealed to the responsible Ministry to update the signing of the draft agreement, which provides the construction of the second phase, called the sludge line. The unit design also includes the third phase, and that is the "Orio" program of the Government of the Netherlands, which provides the extension of sewerage networks in 22 settlements in the immediate vicinity of the plant.

Bogatinovic concluded that the plant, funded by the European funds and with the support of the Government of Serbia, represented a significant contribution to environmental protection, public health and Serbia's accession to the EU.

On behalf of the European Union, Fritz Jakma welcomed the participants of the workshop and said that the program was carried out by two companies from the Netherlands and one from Spain.

It is said that our role is to keep monitoring the construction of the central Plant for Wastewater Treatment.

The aim of the monitoring is to provide the quality of works according to the rules and standards of the European Union and to bring the complete plant successfully to an end. Fritz Jakma also concluded that we were here to provide public company "Vodovod" with the possibility of improving financial and operational performance through the "FOPIP" program.
